It's time to take down the Christmas decorations. I'm driving around and I see people with houses lit up like they think it's December or something. It's been 3 (right?) weekends since Christmas, plenty of time to take (or more realistically, tell someone else) to go take that crap down. There have been days it's been almost 70ยบ here, so these offenders could have even cleaned up their yards without a coat on! It's time! It's coming up on a month! No excuses!!!
Now, just to add a disclaimer, the outside of the house is a completely different story than the inside. The outside is the public face of your family. You've got to get it together out there or else people will have to wonder what is going on inside there. Well, I do anyway. But the inside is your private world. So if, say hypothetically, your nativity set is still up because your kids won't stop swiping the box it goes in that you brought up from the basement two weeks ago and filling it with random toys and shoving it under the couch and calling it an oven even though they have a very nice kitchen set in the other room that Santa brought them two years ago....well then that's okay. It's inside, only friends see that, and they don't care. Or if, again...just hypothetically, you have a wreath on the inside of your front door because it is made of your four year old's handprints and he was so proud of himself even though he had to do it twice to get it right that he gave it to you before he even got out of the school parking lot...well that's okay too I think. That's really just the same as hanging up your kid's artwork. Snowman cookie jars? Well, it IS still winter after all! Or, again- just hypothetically, if you leave the mistletoe up because well you'd have to get a ladder, or more realistically, tell your husband to get a ladder, and also it is a great way to get your kids to kiss you when they go past the front door and that is really more of a Valentine's decoration with the kissing and all...so that's okay too.

You've inspired me! We took down all of our decorations a few weeks ago, but I had forgotten to take down my "Candy cane stripes" on our poles out front. After reading your blog, I REMEMBERED to do that. Thank you for your inspiration! You are TOO funny!

I was one of the people who still had Christmas lights up AND on! I LOVE this time of year! Oh, well. We just took it all down this weekend and now it's ALL gone and put away. Even the snowmen!
